During the initial design consultation, Marilyn meets with clients to understand their preferences and needs. She will develop designs based on this information. Quotes will be provided during the design finalization phase. A 30% deposit is required to initiate the design process, a progress payment is due after the final muslin fitting, and the balance due upon completion.
After the client's measurements are taken, the first pattern is drafted. A muslin (plain weave cotton cloth) mock-up of the design is constructed in order to perfect fit and design lines. Once the pattern is finalized, construction of the final garment begins. Fittings will be scheduled throughout the construction process so that changes or alterations can be made as the gown takes shape. Since all gowns are made to measure, the need for costly alterations is eliminated.
A custom gown requires a minimum six weeks to complete, so please arrange your initial consultation well in advance of your event. Dresses can be completed in less time with an additional 20% charge.
Plutonium clothing can also design custom or made-to-measure bridesmaid, flower girl and mother-of-the-bride dresses in addition to bridal and evening gowns.
